Working closely with the Assistant Director of Intramural Sports and Events, the Program Manager shares primary oversight for the management and facilitation of the Intramural Sports and Events programs, schedule development and facilitation, program safety and risk management, and program marketing and social media. Secondary oversight includes development, delivery, and oversight of equipment and expenditure budgets. The Program Manager is responsible for officials and event staff hiring, payroll, student development and on and off fields training. The Program Manager may need to assist in officiating and game management on an intermittent basis as needed.
A vital component of this position is a demonstrated ability to work autonomously with initiative, critical and creative thinking, as well as a strong commitment to student development, collaboration, and customer service. Additionally, this position has significant staff, administrative and personnel responsibilities and will serve on departmental committees and work teams.
This is a 10-month annual position with responsibilities from August through May and includes the ability for a hybrid work schedule with up to a 20% work from home option.
⦁ Assist in the development and delivery of the intramural sports leagues, tournaments, and special events.
⦁ Recruit, hire, train, schedule, and develop student officials in league sports and assist with the development and oversight of Intramural Supervisor staff.
⦁ Develop and update individual sport officials training and rules per sport including, basketball, flag football, volleyball, sand volleyball, soccer, softball, ultimate frisbee, dodgeball, kickball, wallyball, tennis, racquetball, spikeball, and pickleball.
⦁ Create and publish league and tournament schedules and playoff brackets.
⦁ Conduct player disciplinary meetings as needed
⦁ Research and propose new leagues, tournaments and/or events based on student feedback and available indoor and outdoor spaces.
⦁ Provide on-site supervision and program/personnel evaluation on a routine basis.
⦁ Maintain high visibility by attending trainings, games, playoffs, etc.
⦁ Work to improve the student experience by elevating the quality of officiating.
⦁ Provide fiscal oversight in achieving intramural sports and events operating budgets. Monitor monthly, quarterly and annual financial targets for revenue and expense budgets.
⦁ Complete hiring, onboarding and separation processes and reconcile bi-weekly payroll for assigned staff.
⦁ Coordinate intramural sports and events facility needs with internal and external partners.
⦁ Support and deliver marketing ideas and materials including social media posts and website updates.
⦁ Contribute to monthly reports and gather program data on monthly, semester and annual basis.
⦁ Assist with various department responsibilities related to emergency action plan preparation and execution, safety/risk management, marketing, student development, special events, etc.
⦁ Facilitate ongoing, comprehensive training and development of Officials and Supervisor staff. Ensure required certifications are earned and maintained.

Bachelor's Degree
- OR -
Seven (7) years of relevant work experience and/or other specialized training can be used in lieu of education requirement.
