Job Description

The New York City Department of Investigation ("DOI") is one of the oldest law enforcement agencies in the country with a mission of combating municipal corruption. It serves the people of New York City by acting as an independent and nonpartisan watchdog for New York City government, City agencies, and City employees, vendors with City contracts, individuals and entities that receive City funds.

The Department of Investigation is seeking an eDiscovery Analyst. The selected candidate will support a variety of confidential investigations by managing electroncially stored information for Agency investigations. Your general responsibilities include:
- Implement and configure Nuix solutions for eDiscovery projects.
- Conduct data processing, including ingestion, filtering, and export of electronic data.
- Perform complex searches and data analysis using Nuix tools.
- Develop and execute strategies for data review and production.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to understand their requirements and provide tailored solutions.
- Maintain a chain of custody for all eDiscovery data within the Unit.
- Train investigative staff and law enforcement partners on best practices for using Nuix effectively.
- Stay updated on the latest Nuix features and industry trends to enhance service offerings.
- Prepare documentation and reports on project status and findings.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance as needed.
- Assist with the creation and updating of Standard Operating Procedures.
- Testify at court proceedings when necessary.

If selected, the candidate will be fingerprinted and undergo a background investigation. In addition, for positions that have a law enforcement and/or investigative function, the candidate's consumer credit history will be reviewed during the background investigation, and as otherwise permitted by NYC Administrative Code 8-107(24)(b)(2)(A).

Minimum Qualifications

1. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's Department of Education or a recognized accrediting organization and four years of satisfactory full-time experience in an industrial or governmental agency in the field of investigation, auditing, law enforcement, security, inspections, or in a major operational area of the agency in which the appointment is to be made; or


2.A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university; or


3. Education and/or experience equivalent to "1" or "2" above.

Preferred Skills

1. Baccalaureate degree (preferably in Forensic Computing, Computer Science, Computer Security or similar field) from an accredited college or two years of prior eDiscovery experience2. Experience with Nuix.3. Certifications from Nuix or a similar eDiscovery platform.4. Knowledge and understanding of State and Federal laws pertaining to eDiscovery.5. Knowledge of eDiscovery methodologies, techniques, and best practices.6. Strong attention to detail and high concern for data accuracy.7. Strong communication skills and an ability to testify to findings in Grand Jury and Trial proceedings.8. Excellent organizational skills and an ability to prioritize and coordinate large number of separate eDiscovery investigations.9. Experience conceiving and identifying innovative new approaches and new concepts, guides, and methodologies to solve unprecedented problems, and then training peers to perform the same procedure.

New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.
