Finisher & Installer Job Description Door Renew is looking to hire a skilled wood finisher to stain, finish (brush and spray), and restore our customers' interior and exterior doors and wood products. As a finisher, you will be required to examine the product, identify damaged areas, disassemble the basic parts, and smooth or shape as required. You will also be required to apply finishing products to achieve the desired color and design. In addition, you will be required to uninstall the customer's door or property from their home and return the finished product to the customer and reinstall the product.
To ensure success as a wood finisher, you should have woodworking skills, knowledge of finishing techniques, and a good eye for detail. A door refinisher should expertly restore and finish wooden, fiberglass and metal items to meet the needs of the client.
Occasionally, you may also be expected or incentivized to support business development from potential clients.

Installer & Finisher Responsibilities: - Meeting with the customer to discuss finishing and color requirements.
- Disassembling & renewing the hardware of the door.
- Inspecting the item like doors for rot and physical damage.
- Repairing broken parts, removing imperfections, and filling in cracks.
- Removing old finishings and excess solvent.
- Interior preparation to minimize cleanup, sanding, smoothing and cleaning the item for finishing.
- Properly selecting and applying finishing protectants such as varnish, lacquer or urethanes as appropriate.
- Inspecting the refurbished product, delivering to customers, and completing job reports.
Installer & Finisher Requirements: - High school diploma or GED, Associates or Certificates preferred.
- Previous experience as a Wood Finisher, Cabinetry, Carpentry, Coatings or Handywork
- Strong attention to detail and drive to support production targets
- In-depth knowledge of staining and finishing techniques.
- Excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Advanced design skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Experience with hand and power tools.
- Must be willing and able to lift and lower heavy objects such as doors.
- Must be willing and able to work outdoors in hot and dirty environments.
Compensation: - Based on an experience to wage model
- Starting hourly compensation ranges from $20 to $26
