Trading Analyst
Job Function: The Trading Analyst is responsible for working with the traders as it pertains to managing the products and services of both the taxable and municipal trading desks.Responsibilities will involve trading activities and handling inquiries for individual and institutional clients.Duties include, but are not limited to, the creation of securities material for the sale of taxable and municipal products.The role will also be responsible for reporting, market analysis, trading support and creating communications to the sales team and customers.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: - Work with Taxable and Municipal traders in duties as it relates to fulfilling customer investment needs
- Identify and communicate opportunities in the market designed to increase the profitability of the municipal and taxable desk while managing its overall risk
- Prepare and distribute presentation packets for sales team as it relates to the products of this desk
- Prepare and distribute municipal score cards for sales team as it relates to the products of this desk
- Maintain rapport and communication with the sales team, media, dealers and brokers to keep abreast of market trends, conditions, prices and opportunities, etc.
- Provide Analysis to CMG investment personnel and the taxable desk on market trends, offerings and yields to support sales and underwriting activities both verbally and through written communications
- Post secondary municipal offerings for dissemination to sales staff, monitoring secondary inventory and updating municipal inventory spreadsheet
- Prepare worksheets and sales flyers for new issue municipal sales
- Prepare documentation required for new issue underwriting
- Process trade tickets and reporting of trades to the MSRB Real-Time Transaction Reporting System
- Prepare weekly municipal new issue calendar for distribution to the sales team and management
- Maintain communication with investment personnel to ensure customer needs are being met
- Author "Market Strategy" piece as needed for weekly Portfolio Managers Report (PMR)
- Prepare and communicate all materials and analysis to assist in the annual increase in production of the desk
Job Qualifications/ Required Skills and Abilities: - Bachelor's Degree in Finance or Business preferred or 3-5 years of experience in capital markets or fixed income industry, preferably trading.
- Minimum of three years related Capital Market (trading, sales, analysis or operations) experience preferred.
- Currently have or ability to secure professional licensing and/or certifications within 6 months of employment. (MSRB SIE and Series 52 or Series 7)
- Requires a working knowledge of financial markets and products.
- Previous bond and/or bond accounting experience is helpful, but not required.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary.
- Strong keyboard skills and familiarity with the Bloomberg system, Excel and Word software required.
