Position Overview The Department of Music seeks an inspiring theorist-composer to complement the strengths of the current faculty.

Position Description Teaching responsibilities will focus on the core music theory curriculum but may also allow for upper-level instruction in the area(s) relevant to the candidate's expertise, including but not limited to songwriting, sound design, media composition (film, television, video games), production software, musical theater, and/or composition in the Episcopal/Anglican tradition.
Attributes of a Successful Candidate The successful candidate will recognize students' musical potential and develop that potential both through practical musicianship (ear training, basic keyboard skills) and creative composition. Degrees may include PhD or DMA (ABD considered), the latter with credentialed pedagogy in music theory. We particularly welcome faculty with knowledge, skills, or diverse life experiences that contribute to an inclusive and welcoming environment in our department and the University. Evidence that the candidate can attract and engage students from underrepresented groups is highly valued.
