About Uplinq
We are an Arizona-based startup building software to automate bookkeeping and tax for small businesses. This wasn't always our plan. When we started Uplinq, we wanted to help small businesses use their financial data to make timely business decisions, survive loan due diligence, and work with acquirers/investors. We tried solving these challenges directly to no avail and quickly realized they are all symptoms of a bigger problem: bookkeeping is hard, and SMBs hate doing it.
Since then we've been hard at work developing accounting technology for small businesses that is high-quality, real-time, and affordable. Our customers are dentists, restaurant owners, insurance agents, realtors - real people from all walks of life. Some tried to manage their books in QBO themselves and couldn't keep up. Some paid a CPA firm too much for bookkeeping that only gets updated once a quarter. Some switched from companies like Bench and Pilot looking for better service.
We are a tight-knit team including CPAs, engineers, tax preparers, product designers, and marketers. We support each other, communicate openly, have fun at work, and all believe in Uplinq's mission to help real people run their businesses better.
About the Role
Our Tax team is seeking a Tax Administrator to manage administrative and operational tasks, ensuring seamless operations through timely and accurate data entry and processing tasks. This professional is a self-motivated, detail oriented, organized, team-player who is adept at data entry, has strong communication skills is comfortable with technology, and preferably has a background in tax filing. The best candidate is someone who understands that great teams thrive with supportive players and is comfortable being flexible with their task assignments and jumping in to help all members of the tax team when needed.
Our ideal candidate:
* Has experience with Excel, Adobe, and Google suite and ability to learn new software (required).
* Enjoys corresponding with customers via phone and email, working to build meaningful relationships with Uplinq Tax customers to give them the best experience. Able to occasionally communicate with disgruntled clients and direct them to the proper tax member who can solve their problem.
* Works well with the Tax Onboarding Specialist to meet with customers and gather all documentation needed for quarterly and annual filings. Able to answer customers' questions and solve customers' problems with the support of the Tax Onboarding Specialist.
* Works well with tax preparers to understand what pieces of information need to be gathered from the customer and communicating with the customer to do so.
* Is diligent to maintain customer profiles including taking meeting notes, documenting communication, creating profiles for new customers in Uplinq Airtable software, and preparing tax engagement letters.
* Skilled in gathering, organizing, and storing data including:
* converting financial statements from pdf form to excel form using Adobe Acrobat,
* preparing finalized returns by downloading them from Drake and modifying the pdfs to include logos and signatures in Adpbe
* maintaining an organized filing system by using a standardized system when saving files
* creating folders, upload, and download files from Sharefile
* downloading all customer documentation, organize and save customer's files in our filing system; notify tax members as necessary
* Able to assist in gathering data from the Accounting team including find prior year returns given to Uplinq Bookkeeping and upload to the Tax filing system, downloading financial reports provided by Uplinq Bookkeeping and upload to tax's filing system.
* Willing to assist the Tax team in additional tasks including scheduling meetings and running reports:
* Create meetings for the Vice President of Tax and the Tax Onboarding Specialist as needed.
* Run financial reports in QuickBooks online as needed.
* Complete reasonable compensation reports and ensure that customers agree with the amounts.
