Qualifications

JOB SUMMARY

The Street Transition Lead reports to the Street Clean Supervisor and is responsible for performing the duties of a Street Clean Ambassador, supporting team members in finding permanent employment, and serving as a backup to the Supervisor when needed.

The Street Transition Lead position typically works eight (8) hours per day, up to four (4) days per week, with a schedule that may fall any day from Monday through Sunday, excluding State holidays. Exceptions may be made for workforce training sessions or adjustments approved for individual assignments. Workdays and hours are determined by Caltrans based on operational needs and may include non-standard hours, such as evenings, weekends, or holidays, to fulfill urgent or emergency services as directed by the Caltrans Contract Manager or their designee.

This is a Transitional Employment position lasting up to eleven months. If the person is an internal employee, an additional two months may be added to their 9 program, for a total of up to eleven months.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Act as Lead Supervisor when the Downtown Street Clean Supervisor is out
  • As directed, assist Downtown Street Clean Supervisor with day-to-day tasks
  • Assist with training and data collection procedures
  • Assist with the operation of the Five Keys Operational Dashboard Field App.
  • Provide case management services that assist participants with obtaining gainful employment and reintegrating into the workforce
  • Assist supervisor with timely submission of monthly data reports
  • Documents participant progress in Apricot and attends relevant meetings with community partners
  • Documents services provided, transitions, and submits monthly case management and other reports as required
  • Complete all safety and anti-harassment trainings
  • Report to work dressed appropriately to provide protection from exposure to conditions found in the workplace and use provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working
  • Performs pressure washing of streets, sidewalks, and other structures as needed
  • Use care when operating or maintaining program equipment and resources
  • Oversee the cleaning of equipment at shift's end
  • Perform litter removal services throughout the teams' assigned area of operation, including the removal of controlled sharp items and other dangerous items from sidewalks, gutters, tree wells, and planters
  • Performs topping-off services to remove debris from overflowing city-maintained trash cans
  • Reports the location of graffiti and stickers on public infrastructure
  • Ability to work as a productive team member and take direct supervision
  • Attend all safety inspections and staging meetings
  • Remain properly hydrated throughout the day
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Ability to carry landscaping tools and equipment (at least 20lbs)
  • Ability to follow oral directions in emergency situations
  • Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, light rain)
  • Able to stand on hillsides and slopes while using landscaping tools/equipment

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
  • Experience performing care and maintenance of equipment preferred
  • Experience supervising others preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must wear provided PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and adhere to all safety guidelines and requirements
  • Frequent and prolonged standing, walking, and sitting
  • Ability to follow oral directions in emergency situations
  • Travel to multiple sites required
  • Frequently carry landscaping tools and equipment (at least 20 lbs)
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions (hot, cold, light rain)
  • Continuous bending and/or stooping
  • Standing on hillsides and slopes while using landscaping tools/equipment

  • Moderate to high noise level
  • There is some personal safety risk working near roadways
  • Work environment varies from site to site
  • Some personal safety risks working in underserved communities
