JOB SUMMARY :

Provides a broad range of investigative support services across the enterprise; investigates both proactively generated and referred assignments by means of, but not limited to; analysis and verification of industry recognized suspect claim indicators, development of investigation plans, background and social media investigations, in-person recorded statements and interviews, on-site scene investigations and canvasses, coordination with law enforcement, management of outsource investigative entities and experts, attendance at EUOs, investigative report writing, and execution of NICB and state compliance reporting.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Duties for this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Provides subject matter expert consultation for claims and underwriting personnel, as well as a broad range of investigative support services across the enterprise.
  • Conducts both field and desktop investigations of proactively generated and assigned referrals in an effort to resolve identified suspect claim indicators.
  • Completes background and social media investigations, and other open-source intelligence investigations using company approved databases and online resources.
  • Travels both within state of residence, and to out of state locations, for assignments and other business-related matters.
  • Gathers information and evidence via on-site scene investigations and canvasses, in-person recorded statements, interviews, and other field investigation activities.
  • Attends examination under oath proceedings in collaboration with business partners as needed.
  • Provides complete, detailed investigative claim notes outlining investigative actions, investigative status updates and summaries outlining investigative findings, and other reporting and memorandums as needed.
  • Analyzes the need for and completes the necessary compliance reporting to proper authorities including NICB, state insurance departments, and other law enforcement agencies.
  • Completes assignments timely and accurately within company claim handling best practices and SIU investigation quality expectations.
  • Identifies complex issues and seeks assistance as needed from management and other appropriate resources.
  • Collaborates with internal business partners via in-person discussions, Teams video conferencing and messaging, telephone, email, and text.
  • Provides management and oversight of outsource investigative entities, forensic and other investigative experts.
  • Complies with mandatory SIU annual training requirements and maintains proper licensing and certifications.
  • Complies with company claim handling guidelines and SIU investigation protocols and meets SIU investigator key job performance metrics.

MANDATORY QUALIFICATIONS :

  • Candidates must have a minimum of three years SIU investigation experience, or other equivalent investigative experience.
  • Candidates must have a fundamental understanding of auto, homeowner, dwelling, and business insurance policies and endorsements.
  • Candidate must possess a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record, plus defined automobile insurance liability coverage.
  • Candidates must have their own vehicle for investigative fieldwork and other business-related use.
  • Candidates must have the availability for overnight business travel both within their state of residence and also to out of state locations for up to five business days per trip.
  • Candidates must possess sound business judgment, effective communication skills, and exceptional analytical and critical thinking skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • A four-year college degree in criminal justice, law, science, or related field; or equivalent law enforcement, military, or other job experience.
  • Advanced experience with Microsoft Office products; including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced experience with industry databases, such as Accurint, Westlaw, ISO, and others.
  • Advanced experience conducting social media and open-source intelligence investigations.
  • Advanced data analytics, and trend analysis experience.
  • Possess the following professional designations; CFE, CIFI, FCLS, IAAI-CFI, CPCU.
  • Possess a Florida or other state All Lines Adjuster license.
  • Criminal investigation, fire investigation, or law background.
  • Experience managing outsource investigation vendors and outsource investigation experts.
