Job Description
The Senior Platform Engineer is responsible for providing technical support and leadership related to secure network operations of on-premises and cloud services supporting the core business. You will be part of a team focused on security and network operations for an enterprise covering twelve states, supporting six hundred remote staff. The SPE will participate in strategic initiatives as the company goes through a technological transformation. The right candidate will be security minded, deeply hands-on technical and a strong willingness to learn and teach. You should be comfortable working as a self-starter individual contributor while being part of a lean and capable team.
Primary responsibilities:
• Provide technical design and support of security platforms based on AWS, M365, Cisco and Meraki platforms.
• Support tools and services including New Relic, Duo, Umbrella, Cisco Secure Endpoint, Secureworks IPS/IDS, Azure AD and Intune
• Experience with secure operations of Windows, Apple endpoints and mobile devices
• Participate in vulnerability management, threat hunting and incident investigation.
• Run diagnostics, produce reports, update, and/or route trouble tickets to the appropriate team to resolve complex network access and performance challenges down to root cause.
• Collaborate as a key member of technical team consisting of other Engineers, Developers and Helpdesk staff on technical initiatives.
• Stay up to speed on current security events, critical updates, and general technology.
• Document network components, track changes, and keep documents up to date.
• Install or replace network components and peripherals in data centers.
• Mentor other staff on existing technology, best practices, and company policy.
• Follow up on projects to closure and customer acceptance.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Minimum 10 years hands-on experience securing AWS, M365, Cisco, Meraki products.
• Master degree in Computer Science or equivalent work as a Security Engineer required. Security+ or greater certification a plus.
• Deep understanding of core networking technology including: TCP/IP, DNS, ACLs, routing, switching, IPS/IDS services, MAF, SSO, high availability, VLAN segmentation, Wi-Fi, virtualization hardware and software, multifactor authentication systems, availability and performance monitoring and mobile device management.
• Understanding of Microsoft technologies including Active Directory, GPO and SCCM
• Experience with core infrastructure including VMWare, NetApp, and Citrix a plus.
• Security minded approach, strong troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong people skills and the ability to communicate clearly to supervisors, executive staff, end users, peers, and vendors.
• High level of attention to detail with strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
• High ethical standards and strong willingness to learn and teach.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work under desks as required.
• Full-time hours required, on premises with additional hours, as necessary.
• Occasional U.S. based travel is required.
COMPENSATION:
Annual Salary Range*: $101,250 - $135,000 per year
Actual compensation may vary from posting based on work experience, education, and/or skill level.
