Job PurposeNational Grid is seeking a highly competent Security Officer to join our team to monitor our premises and protect our valued staff. As a Security Officer, you will need a sharp eye with quick reaction time in the detection of any suspicious or criminal behavior, and prevention of theft or vandalism. Key AccountabilitiesSecure our premises and personnel by patrolling property, monitoring surveillance equipment, and access points. Investigate security breaches, incidents, and other alarming behaviorGuard access points, permitting or refusing entry, restraining trespassers, and direct heavy traffic during start and end of business hoursComplete reports by recording observations, information, occurrences, and surveillance activities.QualificationsSecurity Officer must meet the following requirements:Previous law enforcement experience 15+ years (municipal, state or federal) Concealed gun permit for NYC with the ability to carry a firearmAble to stand, walk, climb ladders or steps during an 8-hour shift or irregular shiftAble to lift or carry up to 50 poundsPass post offer hearing and vision assessmentValid driver's license with satisfactory driving history, per individualized assessmentStrong verbal and written communication skills.Location: Brooklyn GreenpointPay Rate: $35.42 per hourPlease be advised that due to the nature of this position, incumbents are subject to federal Drug & Alcohol safety regulations governing US Department of Transportation ('DOT') covered positions, including the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Pipeline Hazardous Material Safety Administration (PHMSA).
