Milhaus Summer Internship Experience

Spend your summer with us! The Milhaus Summer Internship Experience is an 8-12 week program designed to give future professionals meaningful workplace experience. Our program is designed to provide hands-on experience, exposure to our executive team, a collaborative group project as well as fun outings & activities. By interning with us at our downtown Indy corporate office or at one of our properties, you'll be provided the opportunity to kick-start your career by learning from industry leaders and be a part of a team that truly makes a difference.

Position Summary

As a Real Estate Investments Intern at Milhaus, you'll engage in an intensive, deep-dive experience designed for ambitious students seeking concentrated exposure to the world of real estate investments. You'll have the opportunity to add tangible value to our Capital Markets, Asset Management, Finance and Investor Relations departments while gaining comprehensive knowledge in real estate development, acquisition underwriting, financial analysis, investment strategy, equity and debt structures, and financial reporting. This program goes beyond surface-level exposure, involving you directly in active deals at various stages and allowing you to interact cross-functionally with key departments including development, legal, and accounting and FP&A.

Beyond the technical aspects, you'll be fully integrated into Milhaus's dynamic culture through our structured program, which includes networking events, peer interactions, and tailored learning sessions. This immersive experience is crafted to provide you with a holistic understanding of the real estate investment lifecycle, positioning you for future success in the industry while fostering both professional growth and personal connections.

Key Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist with financial modeling and analysis of potential investments, including new developments, acquisitions, and recapitalizations
  • Support the underwriting process for new acquisitions
  • Participate in due diligence activities for potential investments, including reviewing property documents, financial statements, and market data
  • Assist in monitoring the performance of existing portfolio properties, including tracking key performance indicators and identifying value enhancement opportunities
  • Support asset management initiatives by analyzing property-level financial reports and market conditions
  • Conduct market research on real estate trends and opportunities, and perform competitive analysis of real estate investor peers
  • Research current trends in equity and debt markets
  • Conduct research on potential equity and debt investors, maintaining and updating investor databases
  • Assist in preparing materials for equity raises and debt financing requests
  • Help prepare investor reports and presentations, and assist in compiling data for quarterly and annual reports
  • Assist in the creation of pitch books, offering memorandums, and other investor-facing collateral
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects and conduct specialized research and analysis as needed to support various initiatives across the investment team


Requirements

Experience and Skill Requirements
  • Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent, ideally specializing in real estate, corporate finance, economics or business
  • Keen attention to detail and accuracy
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and planning skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven analytical skills, critical thinking, and problem analysis
  • Stress tolerance to manage multiple tasks across various projects simultaneously
  • Interest in future full-time employment with Milhaus post internship experience
