How'll You'll fit in: increases the accessibility and usability of criminal justice data by working with every criminal justice agency across the country to share a common set of data metrics and help policy makers use that data to make better decisions about public safety, equity, and fairness. The policy analyst will join the Justice Counts data team to support a vibrant network of criminal justice researchers, academics, policy advocates, and criminal justice agency personnel shape Justice Counts metrics and create impactful resources for agencies to share their data through Justice Counts. They will develop materials and guidelines that empower agencies to communicate their data stories and contributions as well as help agencies define, display, and share their data seamlessly, ensuring they have the technical assistance and resources needed to showcase their work effectively.
The policy analyst will work with dynamic committees in developing and refining Justice Counts metrics and technical implementation guides. This includes providing necessary materials, consulting with key stakeholders, and coordinating efforts across teams to meet milestones and deadlines. They will build and maintain strong relationships with committee members to reach consensus, facilitate productive meetings, and manage workflow for smooth progress and collaboration. The policy analyst will create and distribute essential materials for adopting and implementing new metrics, work with criminal justice agencies to assist with data sharing and metric utilization, and help integrate these tools into their operations. Additionally, they will contribute to the Justice Counts initiative by supporting teams and identifying opportunities for process improvements and innovations in metric development and application.
What you'll do: Specific responsibilities of the policy analyst include the following:
- Prepare for and run meetings of the Metrics and Technical Implementation Guide Committees, composed of stakeholders from across the criminal justice system.
- Prepare and lead meetings with agency personnel using Justice Counts technology to share their data.
- Serve as a point person on a project and provide value to Justice Counts committee members across the country.
- Support project deliverables and contribute to the advancements of project objectives.
- Draft and track internal and external stakeholder updates on project developments.
- Will have ownership of some project deliverables or timelines.
- Ensure the successful delivery of project timelines, deliverables, monitoring, and cross-team collaboration.
- Demonstrate knowledge in policy and fieldwork that provides quality project deliverables.
- Work effectively with relevant project stakeholders, audiences, and funders to advance the project and consistently ensure deliverables meet all requirements.
- Consistently apply cultural competency and racial equity lens to programmatic work that strengthens the project's external relationships and goals.

- Dedication to public service with an unfailing commitment to act with civility, be nonpartisan in performing CSG Justice Center duties, and be a responsible steward of member and donor funds
- Three years of work experience and/or equivalent education achievements in the criminal justice field or a related field, such as law, legislative organizing, social work, or similar equivalent.
- Experience managing complicated processes involving large groups of stakeholders.
- Excellent research, writing, and editing skills and strong critical and strategic thinking
- Strong oral communication skills, including the ability to effectively distill and present complex information in a concise, accessible way
- Ability to develop, monitor, and deliver project-based timelines and reports
- Ability to communicate project objectives, as well as the role each internal and external stakeholder plays in the project
- Ability to actively contribute ideas that support relevant project objectives and goals
- Demonstrated experience using knowledge of the criminal or juvenile justice system in policy formulation, analysis, advocacy, practice, research, or the like
- Demonstrated experience developing agendas for and participating in strategic meetings with key stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including maturity and an ability to work independently and in a team setting
- Willingness to travel occasionally (no more than twice a quarter) to deliver technical assistance on-site in states across the country or present at conferences and convenings
- Ability to work remotely with autonomy, understand technology, and be able to communicate across platforms effectively
- Reliable and secure internet/data connection and flexibility for using a personal device for internet connectivity during business travel. A cost offset is provided by the CSG Justice Center

The salary range for this position is $65,000- $89,000 . Salary ranges are subject to change based on work location and market conditions.
Our organization offers flexibility in work arrangements, allowing for remote work or a hybrid model. Candidates residing in the NYC metropolitan area will be considered for hybrid model employment.
