We are seeking several physically capable Pediatric Occupational Therapist or Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant to provide hands-on therapy services to children with developmental, physical, and cognitive challenges. The ideal candidate will have a passion for working directly with children, assisting them in improving their motor skills, sensory processing, and overall functional abilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct physical assessments to evaluate children's sensory, motor, and cognitive abilities, requiring the ability to maneuver and position children for testing.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings, utilizing a variety of physical techniques, activities, and equipment to address fine motor skills, sensory processing, visual-motor integration, self-care skills, and social participation.
  • Implement therapeutic interventions that may involve physically assisting children in performing exercises, manipulating equipment, and guiding movements to facilitate skill development and independence in daily activities.
  • Collaborate with parents, caregivers, teachers, and other healthcare professionals to establish goals and optimize therapeutic outcomes, requiring effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Provide hands-on guidance and support to children during therapy sessions, demonstrating techniques and facilitating engagement in therapeutic activities.
  • Monitor children's physical progress and response to treatment, making adjustments to treatment plans as needed to meet evolving needs and goals.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed clinical documentation, including recording measurements, progress notes, and treatment plans, in compliance with regulatory standards and ethical guidelines.
  • Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and professional development activities to contribute to a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Adhere to professional and ethical standards, maintaining confidentiality and respecting the rights and dignity of each child and family.
  • Maintain a safe and organized therapy environment, ensuring proper setup and supervision of equipment and activities to minimize risks and ensure the well-being of children.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program.
  • Current state license (or eligibility for licensure) as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Physical strength, endurance, and dexterity to assist children in performing therapeutic activities, including lifting, positioning, and guiding movements as needed.
  • Experience working with children with a variety of developmental and neurological conditions, such as autism spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy, sensory processing disorders, and developmental delays.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with children and families in a supportive and encouraging manner.
  • Compassion, patience, and empathy in working with children facing physical and developmental challenges.
  • Ability to adapt to diverse settings and populations, including clinic-based, school-based, and community-based services.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage caseload effectively.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and continuous learning.
