Sunbelt Staffing is excited to announce an opening for a skilled Orientation and Mobility Specialist for a full-time contract position in Rocklin, CA. In this role, you will work closely with students who are blind or visually impaired, providing specialized instruction to help them navigate their surroundings with confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and group orientation and mobility training to students with visual impairments.
• Teach the safe use of mobility aids, including canes, and assist with travel training on school campuses and in the community.
• Develop customized mobility plans based on each student's needs and abilities.
• Collaborate with educators, parents, and staff to enhance students' academic and personal growth.
• Track and document student progress, making adjustments to training methods as necessary.
• Participate in IEP meetings to contribute to the development of student goals.
• Stay informed on the latest practices and tools in the field of orientation and mobility.

Qualifications:

• Certified Orientation and Mobility Specialist (COMS) credential.
• Degree in Orientation and Mobility or a related field.
• Previous experience working with students who have visual impairments in an educational environment.
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
• Ability to adapt training approaches to meet diverse student needs.
