LEGAL PROJECT MANAGER (LITIGATION)

OVERVIEW: Top-ranked global law firm is seeking an experienced Legal Project Manager to develop and execute strategic litigation plans. Ensures quality and timely delivery of project deliverables for internal and external clients. Must have project management experience, including process enhancement, staffing experience, and effective modeling and evaluation. The role will define and enhance standards, methodologies, and tools used throughout the firm. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Oversee the process and responsibilities of large and complex litigation projects Gain engagement to successfully drive and enforce project activities, key deliverables and KPI’s Guide and support partners and lead associates in defining matter scope and project approach Determine staffing needs and manage workflow, while adapting to shifting priorities Capture legal requirements and explicit and implicit client requirements/preferences Design project approach accordingly; enforce process and project protocol Organize and manage streamlined and cost-effective support model; engage and direct paralegals, litigation support, attorneys, partners and other staff on project activities Propose solutions to balance expectations and manage scope throughout project delivery; guide solutions and project decisions Compile executive summaries and status reports for attorney and client review Draft and present status reports and provide timely updates to client team partners on potential areas for improvement; engage with key stakeholders to ensure potential issues are addressed Organize and manage matter review process for key matters; establish practice area best practices through discussions with partners and review of successes and areas of improvement; encourage application of best practices on future projects Identify future needs and opportunities for service delivery; lead analysis and design workshops; Brainstorm and execute continuous improvement methods Establish and maintain project forms and templates; oversee appropriate usage firmwide Evaluate, monitor and report on costs and fees of ongoing large projects and assist with budget revisions, tracking and guidance Create and maintain budget procedures for select clients; facilitate communication surrounding budget changes REQUIREMENTS: 3+ years of project management experience MBA or JD preferred; BA required Experience leading complex litigation projects and managing a multi-disciplinary team of legal professionals and clients Ability to engage directly with senior leadership on strategy and execute evolving projects goals firm-wide with diplomacy Able to effectively convey solutions to cross-functional department teams Deep understanding of legal project management framework and goal setting and achieving Able to integrate and synthesize information from multiple teams and workstreams in order to analyze complex issues, mitigate risk, and solve problems Excellent organizational, time management and decision-making skills Sharp attention to detail in executing and reviewing work products Exercise discretion in handling sensitive and confidential matters Possess highly developed organization, writing, analytical, presentation and communication skills Knowledge of extranets or other collaborative project management tools, Visio, Excel, and financial systems and reports
