Home Inspector Job Description Job Overview The responsibilities of a Home Inspector require a broad range of abilities, including the technical expertise to assess residential properties and the interpersonal skills to communicate findings effectively in both verbal and written formats. This position will work collaboratively with the business owner and/or team members to uphold customer satisfaction, meet revenue goals, and adhere to industry standards and best practices. Primary Responsibilities & Accountabilities: * Conduct thorough and detailed home inspections, including examination of crawl spaces, attics, and other structural components. * Accurately document findings using proper grammar and punctuation, ensuring clarity and professionalism. * Communicate effectively with real estate agents and customers to explain inspection results and recommendations. * Provide consultation and recommendations on value-added service packages and additional offerings from the Pillar To Post franchise. * Maintain comprehensive records of all home inspections, including photographs and written reports, and ensure proper filing and documentation. * Manage time efficiently to arrive at inspections at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled time and complete inspections within the allotted timeframe. * Follow up with clients in a timely and professional manner to provide additional information or address inquiries. * Clearly communicate the pricing model and service options offered by the Pillar To Post franchise. * Complete all required paperwork and adhere to established company procedures for booking, conducting, and finalizing inspections. * Participate in marketing initiatives, including lunch-and-learn events, trade shows, and real estate office visits. * Collect payments from clients upon completion of the home inspection. * Coordinate the placement and retrieval of specialized testing equipment. * Maintain and safeguard all company-issued equipment. Job Specifications: * Basic understanding of residential home systems and components (training provided). * Proven ability to achieve professional and sales goals. * Strong persuasion and influence skills. * Ability to develop and deliver presentations effectively. * Proficiency in composing, editing, and presenting written materials. * Strong problem-solving and conflict-resolution skills. * Emotional maturity and stability to handle diverse client emotions and frustrations. * Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. * Strong time management, multitasking, and organizational abilities. * Professional appearance and demeanor to positively represent the company. * Ability to travel locally for client inspections (valid driver's license and reliable vehicle required). * Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including some Saturdays. * Successfully pass all required assessments during the hiring process. * Complete Pillar To Post and state-mandated training and testing. * NHEI (National Home Inspector Exam) certification preferred (training provided). Technical & Business Skills: * Proficiency in computer use, particularly email and internet applications. * Strong verbal and written communication skills for customer interaction. * Ability to effectively present service options and explain benefits to clients. * Sales aptitude with a natural ability to build relationships and educate clients.
