Job Description
Creative Dining Services is looking for a Food Service Director for our Miracle Camp location, in Lawton, Mi! Lawton Michigan is located just 30 minutes Southwest from Kalamazoo on Bankson Lake. This year-round operation would be a good opportunity for a culinarian with strong leadership skills. The Food Service Director will supervise the unit operations, perform and maintain culinary excellence, generate maximum sales, and ensure controllable profits while maintaining company objectives and quality standards.
Core Responsibilities: FINANCIAL
- Collaborate with the Operations Director to prepare a period and yearly budget.
- Achieve maximum sales and profits, consistent with acceptable operating standards.
- Demonstrates thorough understanding of all Company established purchasing and financial policies & procedures.
- Ensure other onsite management and support staff understanding and consistent adherence to all Company purchasing and financial policies & procedures.
MANAGEMENT AND DEVELOPMENT
- Collaborate with Operations Director to determine staffing needs.
- Responsible for hiring, training, coaching, supervising, evaluating and managing performance of direct reports.
- Develop unit managers utilizing the gap analysis tool provided by Human Resources to determine individual needs, creating development plans where needed.
- Demonstrate thorough understanding of State and Federal employment rules and regulations.
- Ensure onsite management and staff understanding and consistent adherence to all State and Federal rules and regulations.
- Trains and develops employees to ensure maximum productivity is attained and morale is at a high level.
- Develops and maintains systems to measure and evaluate personnel, which are in compliance with company policies, procedures, and the law.
- Monitors all phases of the employment processes including scheduling, time keeping, wage structure, and employee benefit program tasks.
CULINARY PRACTICES
- Implements and maintains standards of quality in all areas of the food service operation.
- Ensures that all areas of the food service operation are in compliance with the C.L.E.A.N. Works! program, and follows Federal, State and Local health codes, and ensures overall quality assurance.
- Ensures that all company and account purchasing policies and procedures are followed; through correct menu planning, receiving, storage,
- Attains the maximization and utilization of company resources, and that quality specifications and sustainability efforts are adhered to.
OPERATING CONTROL
- Evaluate total operational performance and ensure client satisfaction.
- Develop a complete operational business review on a quarterly basis, review this with the Operations Director, and present to the client.
COMMUNICATION
- Hold direct report and team meetings on a regular basis.
- Be knowledgeable and ensure utilization and thorough understanding of all corporate communications, i.e. the Weekly Digest.
- Written communication of all management and administrative staff is compliant with the corporate Electronic Communication policy and all litigation holds on correspondence are closely adhered to.
- Ensure positive public relations are attained; account retention is assured.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have : - A Bachelor's Degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management is preferred. An advanced degree in Management, Hospitality, or related field is highly desirable.
- In lieu of a Bachelor's degree, a minimum of 10 years successful managerial experience is preferred. An equivalent of education, training and experience may be considered.
- A Culinary Degree is strongly preferred.
- Proven superior customer relations skills are required. Must possess excellent communication skills
- Must possess and have a proven track record in strong culinary and food production skills.
- Must be detail-oriented, a problem solver with critical thinking skills.
- Experience in facilitating formal training.
- MS Office and general computer/system proficiency in a variety of electronic platforms.
- Experience developing, managing and adhering to budgets.
- ServSafe Certification required.
- Allergen Certification required.
