Job Summary:
The chief engineer is responsible for ensuring that the building is maintained as a pleasing, professional business environment, with minimal disruption to building tenants and visitors. Keep buildings in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. Duties may include performing routine maintenance activities, notifying management of need for repairs, and cleaning snow or debris from sidewalk.
Responsibilities: Supervises Maintenance staff
Oversees budgeting and financial control
Ensures compliance with all applicable national and local codes and regulations
Ensures construction coordination including contractor management and review
Ensures that all communications with the Director, vendors, team members, and the client are of the highest quality
Implements and maintains systems and practices, including the prevention of maintenance systems
Interacts with contractors, vendors, and consultants in an unbiased, objective, and ethical manner
Identifies key industry resources which can aid the operation or contribute to enhancements
Maintains compliance with all company policies, procedures and standards of conduct
Complies with HIPAA privacy and security requirements to maintain confidentiality at all times
Performs other duties as assigned
Education:
High School Diploma or GED/Equivalent (required)
Experience:
10+ years related work experience, including supervisory experience (required)
Must have hands-on experience in a critical facility, including UPS Systems, emergency generators, and switch-gear (required)
License:
Current Valid Drivers License must be maintained (required)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities critical to this role:
Demonstrated experience in a critical facility using UPS Systems, emergency generators, and switch-gear
Able to provide excellent internal and external customer service
Must demonstrate time management skills and be able to plan work and prioritize
Must have strong relationship building skills
Must be able to break down complex tasks into manageable parts in a systematic, detailed way and considers input from several sources
Must be detail-oriented and have ability to check own work for accuracy and quality
Must be able to problem-solve by identifying and resolving problems in a timely manner, as well as develop alternative solutions when needed
Must have great flexibility and the ability to continually look for ways to adjust and change course, as needed
Language Ability:
Must be able to communicate effectively in both verbal and written formats
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to break down problems or tasks; scanning ones own knowledge and experience to identify causes and consequences of events.
Computer Skills:
Working knowledge of computer applications including Word and Excel
Able to develop a complete personal knowledge of all building machinery, equipment, and systems
