Job Title: Catholic Choir Director

Job Type: Part-Time

Location: Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, New Jersey

Qualifications:

• An undergraduate degree in music with proficiency in Catholic music, or a minimum of five years' full-time experience leading a Catholic congregation and/or choir.
• Documented musical abilities and experience, with the ability to accompany a Catholic musician.
• Strong familiarity with the Christian faith as practiced in the Catholic tradition.
• Effective communication skills, with the ability to work with adults and youth, resolve conflicts, and maintain healthy interpersonal relationships.
• Ability to work unsupervised in a dynamic and sometimes stressful environment.
• Willingness to work in the pluralistic environment of the Chaplain Corps.
• Must provide one letter of reference demonstrating the above attributes.

Duties:

• Direct worship music for Catholic services on Saturdays and Sundays, as well as for special occasions such as memorial services, Christmas, Easter, and other Catholic Holy Days of Obligation.
• Lead choir rehearsals twice a week, ensuring the choir is well-prepared for services.
• Act as Cantor/Leader of Song, providing vocal leadership during services.
• Select and organize appropriate Catholic liturgical music, with selections approved by the Senior Catholic Chaplain at least two weeks prior to performances.
• Monitor and maintain chapel musical instruments, advising on necessary repairs or replacements.
• Ensure the proper setup and security of chapel facilities and equipment during rehearsals and services.
• Recruit and manage volunteer choir members from the JB MDL Catholic community.
• Provide musical support for military and civilian community events as tasked by the Senior Catholic Chaplain.
• Adhere to copyright laws regarding music materials and ensure the government is not exposed to liability.
