Summary/Objective

Big Grove Brewery is opening our first ever coffee shop attached to our Omaha taproom! As a Barista, you will create a Big Grove experience through preparing and serving coffee for our guests. Building connections with our Omaha community and sharing a passion for relentless hospitality to our customers is essential.

Essential Functions

1. Provide exceptional service to guests and assist teammates to do the same. Create raving fans of Big Grove through the experience that you provide them.

   1. Thoroughly understand the menu, including ingredients, methods, styles and special dietary considerations.

   2. Provide recommendations and answer questions to meet the needs of our guests.

   3. Prepare food and/or beverages to standard recipes or customized for each guest. This could include recipe changes like temperature, quantity in ingredients and/or substituted ingredients.

   4. Excel in selling products to guests

2. Enter orders accurately and timely, delivering orders in a timely manner ensuring proper presentation and temperature.

3. On a daily basis- complete pre and post shift tasks

4. Maintain a safe and sanitary environment

5. Use coffee machines, grinders, blenders, and other equipment safely and efficiently.

6. Replenish supplies like coffee beans, milk, syrups, and paper goods as needed. Assist with stock inventory and ordering.

7. Operate point of sale terminals, present accurate bills to guests and process payments

   1. Maintain an organized system for handling cash, checks and receipts. Follow proper tip procedures.

8. Treat customer concerns as an opportunity to create a life-long customer.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

Standing and Walking: Ability to stand for long periods and walk throughout the coffee shop.

Lifting: Must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 30 lbs., such as bags of coffee, milk cartons, or other supplies.

Reaching, Bending, and Stooping: Regular reaching, bending, and stooping are required to stock supplies, clean equipment, and access ingredients.

Hand Dexterity: Must be able to operate and adjust espresso machines, grinders, and other coffee shop equipment, requiring good manual dexterity and coordination.

Physical Stamina: The position demands high energy levels to work in a busy, fast-paced environment during peak hours.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work

This is a part-time to full-time position and hours of work/ days may vary from week to week. Schedules will be posted the week prior to allow time for employees to be informed of work requirements. The business is open 7 days a week during many day parts. Hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends nights and/or holidays are likely a key requirement.

Travel

No travel is expected for this position.

Preferred Education and Experience

1. Previous experience in a barista or food service role is preferred but not required.

2. Excellent customer service and communication skills.

3. Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.

4. Basic math skills for handling transactions.

5. Willingness to learn about coffee preparation and customer preferences.

6. Attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and organization.
